TOP 5 THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME

Here's the rundown of me! :)

1. I love getting projects off the ground and running

My previous experience at hackathons led me to a finalist spot and Audience Choice Award at the American Psychiatric Association’s Innovation Lab held at the annual APA conference - the largest psychiatry conference in the world. This made me realize just how much I love building and bringing “moonshot” ideas to fruition.

2. I bring energy to people and teams I’m a part of:

When I am very excited about something I say “Raaee!”. My dorm-mates loved this expression so much that that they got it printed on the official dorm T-Shirt. Needless to say, I’m excited about a lot of things and I share that positive energy with the people around me.

3. I see setbacks as opportunities:

While working on the Stanford’s Solar Car array team, we faced several setbacks in flash testing our solar cells. Our flash tester was constantly experiencing glitches. Reaching out to the manufacturer about the issues set back our research by days and in very bad cases, an entire week. Despite the challenges, I used this lost research time as an opportunity to learn everything I could about flash testers, and in a month’s time, I moved from being just a member of the solar car team, to being their flash tester expert. I debugged and diagnosed the flash tester, which we used to ultimately make major decisions on our array production for the current World Solar Car race in Australia.

4. I am excited by unchartered territories:

As a teen, I left home all on my own and transferred to a high school in Europe. This goes to show my zeal for traversing unknown terrains, whether these are unknown geographical terrains or unknown technological terrains - to software and beyond!

5. I believe that improving the way people interact with technology is about understanding user psychology:

This is why I binge read Psychology Today articles, and ultimately this is also why I am motivated to help carve out the emerging field of Mental Health Engineering. As the publications team lead at Stanford Brainstorm (Stanford’s New Lab for Entrepreneurship in Behavioral Health), I champion using technology to better the mental health and overall well being of others.
